Women’s Self-Defense

Pam helps young karate student learn to punch more effectively

What: Self defense for women. Learn to stay safe and to defend yourself in an emergency. Women only, please (children 10/+ are welcome when accompanied by a participating adult). Please wear comfortable clothing and remove shoes and jewelry.

When: Saturday May 5, 2018

  • 9 – 11 AM: Basic Self-Defense Seminar
  • 11 AM – 1 PM: Lunch / Q&A

Cost:  $10 includes seminar and lunch (proceeds go to Shotokan Karate of America Capital Fund)

Pam Logan is the highest ranking female in SKA

Instructor: Pam Logan is a direct student of Tsutomu Ohshima and received all of her ranks directly from him. Master Ohshima is widely regarded as one of the world’s preeminent instructors of Shotokan Karate and leads an international network of Shotokan organizations with representation in 17 countries. Dr. Logan is currently the highest-ranking female in Master Ohshima’s US organization. She has taught at karate clubs at Caltech and Stanford University, and led a karate dojo in Richland Washington for 8 years. In addition, she has published a book that draws from her martial arts knowledge, Among Warriors: A Woman Martial Artist in Tibet, a nonfiction travelogue about fighters in Tibet (Overlook Press). Logan currently trains at Boulder Dojo in Colorado.
